2017 7x7 Gold Coast
The 7x7 Talk Series promotes collaborative design practice on the Gold Coast and celebrates the creative culture, leisure and lifestyle of the local community. This unique Gold Coast initiative provides connections and networking opportunities for emerging and established design professionals, design students and design related organisations with an aim to initiate collaborative projects that stimulate the design community on the Gold Coast. This year our talk features four guest speakers from three leading creative agencies that will speak for approximately twenty minutes each, covering topics that relate to various design disciplines.
Matt Vergotis /Graphic Designer / Verg
Matt Vergotis is a renowned Gold Coast designer with over twenty years experience in the creative industry. Working in Sydney, London and his hometown of the Gold Coast, Matt specialises in the areas of Corporate Identity, Lettering & Typography.
Having a strong presence on social media, most of Matt’s clients come from all around the world. In recent years Matt’s lettering and calligraphy work has come to the forefront getting commissions from international brands such as EMI, Spotify, Washington DC Tourism & Rebel as well as local commissions such as Harry’s Steakhouse, Black Hops and Element.
Matt’s work appears on many design inspiration websites and has been published in numerous books.
Michelle Donnelly / Studio Hotel Sector Leader / Woods Bagot
With over 10 years’ experience working on a variety of design projects, Michelle has developed a solid foundation in interior design, project management and business development. Her experience has instilled flexibility and confidence in handling any new challenge, client or project type. An all-rounder, self-starter and independent thinker and doer, Michelle supports and encourages beautiful well-resolved design outcomes and creative processes.
Michelle is currently leading the interior fit-out on The Westin Brisbane, and has been a part of the recent Surfers Paradise Aquis Pacific Point 6 Star Hotel announcement.
With a team of over 850 across 17 studios in Australia, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America, Woods Bagot philosophy is based on People Architecture and their future-oriented projects focus on the human experience and on how people actually use space.

UAP collaborates with emerging and established artists, architects and designers to deliver creative outcomes for the public realm. They engage in all aspects of the delivery process from commissioning and curatorial services, through concept generation and design development right into fabrication and installation. UAP take pride in embracing uncommon creativity and extending creative practice.
Brothers Daniel and Matthew Tobin established UAP (originally called Urban Art Projects) in 1993. They created a studio and workshop that could facilitate projects, work with artists and realise public artwork. Urban Art Projects’ collaborative approach provided artists the space to develop ideas, investigate materiality, deliver projects and extend their practice. The brothers built a passionate team who worked hard, collaborated well and delivered great projects.
These days UAP collaborates with architects and designers as well as artists. They share their expertise and experience. UAP has been working alongside other creative disciplines for over twenty years and are proud of the projects delivered. UAP is comprised of STUDIO, FACTORY and SUPPLY with over 150 staff that can connect to and build creative vision. Their studios in New York, Brisbane and Shanghai are abuzz daily with discussions, experimentations & the hum of making.
