Kokedama Workshop - Magpies Waitara
Join Hortiman for a relaxed, fun 2-hour hands-on workshop on how to create and care for kokedama (Moss Balls/String Garden).

On the day you will be guided through the creation of your own beautiful kokedama to take home as well as gain the knowledge and confidence to create plenty more at home.

What is a 'kokedama'? Kokedama is a traditional growing technique from Japan where it translates as 'moss ball'. The kokedama technique involves creating a ball of growing media around the roots of the plant being styled. This ball is then wrapped with an outer layer of moss, secured using twine or wire. Some kokedama are then hung as 'string gardens', while others can simply then be featured in a low dish.

What you'll get:
  • Complimentary drink on arrival (House beer/wine/soft drink)
  • Expert instruction on how to create then properly care for your kokedama using Hortiman's easy technique.
  • Premium plants chosen for their suitability as a kokedama specimens. Choose from indoor and outdoor options (1 plant per person*)
  • All materials required (growing media, moss, assorted twine, etc).
* Additional plants & materials will be available on the day should you have time to make additional kokedama or to take home at an additional fee
