2017 Victoria Day Awards & Reception

VICTORIA’S 166th ANNIVERSARY

 
 

On the 1st of July 1851, Victoria achieved not only its separate geographic boundaries, but also Responsible Government with the formation of the Victorian Parliament. Other Victorian institutions including the Supreme Court and the Public Service also commenced on this important day. (A public holiday prior to World War 1.). Each year this event is celebrated, details below.

 

 

Victorian Flag raising and re-enactment

A Victorian flag raising ceremony and re-enactment of Governor Latrobe’s reading of the proclamation of separation will be held in Swanston Street, in front of the Melbourne Town Hall at 10.30 a.m. on Monday the 3rd of July 2017.

Bookings not necessary, just come if you are interested, there is no charge.

 

Victoria Day Awards Ceremony

The Victoria Day Awards will be presented in the Lower Town Hall Monday the 3rd of July 2017 at 11.00 a.m. (No Charge).

Bookings are preferred but not necessary, via continue booking at the bottom of this page.

 

Reception following the Awards

After the awards refreshments, including The Victoria Day Birthday Cake, will be served in the Portico Room in the Town Hall. The Reception will cost $15.00 per person.

Separation Dinner and La Trobe Lecture

A "Black Tie" Dinner to celebrate the 166th Anniversary of Separation and to hear the La Trobe Lecture will be held at the Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place Melbourne, Melbourne on Saturday the 29th of July at 7.00 p.m. The lecturer this year is Mr Alan Simon Finkel AO FAA FTSE is Australia's Chief Scientist. An Australian neuroscientist, engineer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, he served as Chancellor of Monash University in 2008-2016 . The cost is $130 per person, which will include predinner drinks, a three-course dinner and all table wines. Bookings are essential.
