THE SEA

Edward Bond considered his play The Sea to be a satirical comedy that examined the relationships or influences individuals can have on society. Willy survives the storm but his best friend Colin drowns. The draper and part-time Coast Guard, refused to help save Colin, believing that Willy’s an alien who killed Colin. The eccentric Mrs Rafi, the echelon of class and role model to many of the villagers, has her own ideas of justice when she learns of neglected duties.
