2017 Gold Medal Tour with Peter Elliott
At the 2017 National Architecture Conference held in Sydney at the beginning of May, Peter Elliott of Peter Elliott Architecture + Urban Design was announced as the 2017 Gold Medallist. From June through to November Peter will be touring the country delivering his Gold Medal lecture, sharing his approach to architecture and practice.
The Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal is the highest honour the Institute can bestow. The award was created in 1960 to recognise distinguished service by Australian architects who have designed or executed buildings of high merit; produced work of great distinction resulting in the advancement of architecture, or endowed the profession of architecture in a distinguished manner.
A Melbourne architect who commenced practice in 1975, Peter Elliott is Principal of the award-winning practice Peter Elliott Architecture + Urban Design. Currently a Senior Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Art Design & Architecture at Monash University, Peter was awarded a Doctor of Architecture honoris causa by the University of Melbourne in 2015. He has a special interest in the design of the public realm, and has lectured and written extensively on contemporary architecture and urban design. The work of the practice has won more than 70 National and State architectural and industry awards, including an Order of Australia in 1987 for services to architecture (public housing).
Don’t miss your chance to hear Peter present a range of key works and inspirations in his Gold Medal lecture delivered in Sydney this August.
