Topic: Making the invisible more visible: the trials and tribulations of Workplace Engagement Programs
Presenter: Garry Francis-Pester, occupational health professional working as a physiotherapist, exercise physiologist and ergonomist
About: Garry is an experienced occupational health professional working as a Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist and Ergonomist for many years. He now has a Masters in OHS and continues to provide care and advice to many top Australian companies with early intervention and manual handling/ergonomic training programs. He is also a senior lecturer at Victoria University in the Clinical Exercise Physiology Master’s program where he has developed and delivers a compulsory unit in occupational injury and health.
In recent years he has been involved in some innovative research and modern engagement "Workplace Engagement Programs". Using EMG/Kinematic studies to identify the physical requirements of manual handling tasks and the review of job design and work flow, he is now focusing on how to connect and engage with employees to prevent risky behaviour, improve employees preparedness, job satisfaction and reduce injury events.
