CASTLEMAINE DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL (CDOC) 2017
The Castlemaine Documentary Film Festival (CDOC) is an annual three day event held in central Victoria, Australia.
It features an international programme showcasing a series of fascinating worlds populated by even more fascinating characters. The programme includes Australian cinema premieres plus live Skype and broadcast Q&A sessions.
‘Documentary film has truly come of age in the last 5 years, and it is no wonder given the growing need we all have for authenticity in an increasingly virtual world’ says Festival Director, Geoffrey Smith. ‘We had our first CDOC back in 2015. By popular demand, the festival returned in 2016, and this year we have just been given the go ahead to have another festival.’
CDOC opens on Friday 21 July at 7.30pm with a screening of Tabloid, a hilarious portrait of obsession, delusion and scandal sheet notoriety.
The screening will be followed by a lively panel and audience discussion ‘Truth and the media in our “post fact” age’. In a world where anyone can and does say anything, has “truth” finally been sacrificed on the altar of spin, image and presentation? Panellists include Margaret Simons, John van Tiggelen, Anna Hedigan, and David Thrussell.
Please note: Tickets will be available for purchase at the door from 1 hour prior to each session. Cash preferred, EFT accepted.
