Want to learn Auslan?
Auslan, or Australian Sign Language, is the language used by Australia's Deaf Community. WA Deaf Society runs Basic and Intermediate Auslan Courses year round, offering the opportunity to learn about Deaf Culture, along with an introduction to this beautiful language.

Our Basic Auslan Course covers the following:


  • Deafness Awareness Training & Deaf Culture
  • Fingerspelling
  • Numbers & Counting
  • Dates & Times
  • Greetings, introductions and exchanging personal information
  • Question words - who, what, when, where, why, how
  • Colours
  • Food & drink
  • Talking about your surroundings, where you live and your family
  • Transport
  • Recreational activities
  • Other vocabulary and conversation skills

At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion.


Friday 1 December from 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Saturday 2 December from 9am - 5pm
Sunday 3 December from 9am - 5pm
