Peter Gaudion's Blues Express
One of Australia’s premier, and longest running bands, the ‘Blues Express’ plays with a versatility that few Australian groups can emulate. Formed in 1978 to be the house band at the famous Hotel Victoria in Albert Park, where Peter Gaudion was a co-owner, the band has played all the major festivals and concert venues in Australia and supported or backed some of the greatest international artists of the time. The diverse interests of the members produce an eclectic style of jazz that crosses many boundaries.
Always a high-energy, hard-driving band, the group strives to pay tribute to the original roots of jazz whilst embracing later styles. A collective interest in the early ‘hot’ Louis Armstrong period to the energetic soulful approach of the Cannonball Adderley Band typifies the style of the band.
The Blues Express line up for September will be: Peter Gaudion – Trumpet, Ash Gaudion - Alto Sax, Bob Sedergreen – Keyboard, James Clark – Bass, Rod Gilbert – Drums and Vocalist Jackie Gaudion.
