Food Science Day for Home Economics teachers

The Food Science Day on Thursday 23 November 2017 has sold out. However, a repeat of the day has been organised for Friday 24 November. Please go to  https://www.trybooking.com/329772 to book into the new Friday event.

The inaugural HEIA(Q) Food Science Day comprises two hands-on workshops designed to assist with implementation of the upcoming Senior Food & Nutrition syllabus. One workshop aims to develop delegates' understanding of various stages of food product development from idea generation to lab-scale prototype manufacture. The other workshop will comprise two experiments exploring the effect of different leavening agents on factors on bread quality, and exploring how different forces and emulsifiers lead to stability of an emulsion. The workshops will be delivered in different ways that can be carried out in a school kitchen.

Please wear covered shoes and bring a lab coat (a lab coat can be provided by UQ if booked on the booking form).

There are a limited number of FREE places available for regional HEIA members who have to travel by air to the workshops (proof of flights required).
