2018 Tues 15 May The Architecture of Memory

Charles Justin is an architect and past president of the Jewish Museum of Australia. He is also the son of Jewish Polish holocaust survivors. This presentation explores how two Jewish Museums - the Jewish Museum Berlin and the Polin Museum in Warsaw, have represented their Jewish histories. Charles compares how these museums have dealt with issues of national identity, memorialization and redemption through their architecture and the exhibitions on display.
