Bread of Life Retreat 1 2018
It is no coincidence that bread serves as a symbol for life, and for the presence of God in this world, in every world religion. For Christians, bread has a special significance and is the symbol that Jesus used so many times.
Making sourdough bread is unlike making most other foods. It’s a slow, thoughtful process and it can be a very spiritual practice as well as a metaphor for other aspects of our lives.
The theme of this retreat is transformation, as bread is a transformational food. During the retreat there will be time to reflect upon how the spirit of God is at work in our lives as we move from the method of bread making, into the metaphor of the leaven working in our bread dough... Just as we are ‘enlivened’ by the spirit of God in our life and the gifts we have received.
It’s going to be a reflective time, but also a relaxing and fun time as you learn how to bake the best sourdough, learn some new meditation prayer styles, go on some lovely walks and enjoy some scrumptious food.
This retreat is for everyone to enjoy and the best part is there is no need to have any technical baking skills or advanced training, or holiness, or to be churched in any way to attend. You can just come as you are and do as much or as little as you want.
Starts Friday 16th Feb 2018 at 6pm and finishes Sunday 18th at 3pm
