Flow of the workshop
Being Future Ready
The day will begin with an introduction to world we are preparing students for. Through videos and discussions teachers will explore and identify the skills, dispositions and knowledge needed to operate successfully in a fast changing global landscape. With this background as a springboard, participants will then explore and discuss the importance of STE(A)M, design and computational thinking and experience a hands-on activity that highlights HOW they can enact the intent of STEM and the Technologies curriculum.
Problem Solvers Session
In this session participants will be posed a real life challenge to solve. They will be lead through the design process to empathise, define the problem, ideate and present possible solutions. Through this process participants will come to a deep understanding of how they design and lead such challenges in their schools.
DigiDesign Stations and Where to Next
Ipswich Junior Grammar is leader in the enactment of the Digital and Design Technologies Curriculum. During this session participants will be free to move around a range of stations and play with and try out a range of activities. The hands-on activities and materials will address a wide range of year levels and expertise. Participants will have the opportunity to have rich and deep discussions with teachers and students about what works. The day will end with a discussion of where to next and networking to build partnerships between schools.
