This CPD we are focussing on the Practice Management competency. This session will look at working on the side – how to start, what the legal implications are and at what point did it becomes your main job. 

We have Andrew Walter from Walter and Walter and Bruce Allen from Bruce Allen Architects joining us to speak about their experiences and give an insight into there experiences with 'Moonlighting' throughout their careers.

Andrew Walter - Walter & Walter

Andrew is an Associate Principal and Design Leader at Woods Bagot and is a founder of Walter&Walter.
As a Design and Project leader he has been involved in a number of local and international projects including MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart for Fender Katsalidis Architects. Andrew's practice experience spans cultural, public, residential, commercial and mixed use projects with a focus issues such as sustainability, community and urban environments.
Walter& Walter is and architectural practice that focuses on small scale projects and received an award from the Australian Institute of Architects for House A in the Residential Houses - New category in 2017.



Bruce Allen - Bruce Allen Architects

Bruce Allen set up his own architectural practice 42 years ago after returning from post graduate study in Architecture at the University of Toronto and Business Administration at the University of Western Ontario. He also spent time working in Toronto and the UK on his travels.

He has designed a number of overseas projects including new towns in Hong Kong and buildings in Moscow and the pacific islands. His Australian practice has produced a wide range of residential, commercial and institutional buildings and has a reputation for solving complex problems. The practice also contributes to a number of community projects on a pro bono basis.

Bruce is a Life Member and Senior Counsellor of the Australian Institute of Architects and is currently Convenor of Examiners for the registration of Architects in Victoria. He has maintained a teaching role throughout his career and after many years of teaching at RMIT is currently teaching at Monash University.

He has no plans to retire because he says that “he is just getting the hang of it”.
