Sydney Science Festival: Picturing the Chemistry of Disease

Many diseases are caused by a change in the location and amount of protein that is present in the body. Identifying these changes is often needed to not only diagnose these diseases, but also in determining if new drug treatments are effective. Dr Bishop is an analytical chemist, and will explain how the use of laser imaging is simplifying the process of identifying these proteins of interest, with a particular focus on the terminal childhood illness Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
