CHANGING ROLE OF WOMEN IN THE MILITARY

The guest speaker at Sydney Rotary Club’s luncheon on Tuesday 24 April will be Lieutenant Colonel Darleen Young, Senior Instructor, Gender and Protection Officer, Australian Defence Force Peace Operation Training Centre.

Darleen will be speaking about the Changing Role of Women in the Military and particularly the ADFs contribution to Peace and Security for women and children through our support to UN missions around the world.

Darleen Young was commissioned into the Royal Australian Corps of Transport and served in a range of regimental appointments at the unit and formation level and instructional appointments at the University of New South Wales Regiment and Australian Command and Staff College.

Career highlights include being awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2013 for exceptional service in command and her more recent contribution to regional and global peace, security, gender and peacekeeping training and international engagement, and presented with the National Education Gender Lighthouse Award in 2006.
