Architects are at the forefront of innovation and change in a very dynamic world. Sydney’s new density and the need to craft the right design outcomes require understanding, testing and an appreciation of diversity as well as the ability to learn from others. This new density isn’t so new in other parts of the world and our speakers will share what they know, what they are exploring and where this might take us.

Speakers from Copenhagen and Sydney will present within a facilitated discussion over 3 hours.


Rasmus Frisk

Rasmus will discuss recent works and experiences for Copenhagen and Sydney, looking at integration and 
new planning initiatives invigorating thinking around aged care, community, public places and shared schools play areas

   Jim Koopman
Director, AJ+C, URBANBACKYARD Project

Jim will talk about strategies for realising long-term visions for place, using creative arts and industry to attracts others, and the URBANBACKYARD project investigating the potential of courtyard building forms in high density environments to provide increased liveability for families 
  Annie Tennant
General Manager, Sustainability and Culture, Barangaroo South, Lendlease

Annie will explore the challenges designers and developers face addresssing climate change and reconciliation, and in creating urban spaces people actually want to spend time within
    Thomas Rivard
Associate, McGregor Coxall and founder of the Urban Islands program

Tom will discuss architecture, urbanism, placemaking, public realm activation, public art and installation
  Stephen Pearse 
Principal, Steve Pearse Architecture
Steve will facilitate the discussion
