Peter will be presenting off grid power stations and how to assess the supply and demand to help calculate the scale of the project. You’ll learn about load reduction and load management opportunities.  Peter will also identify sustainable opportunities that can arise, drawing from his experiences from his 2010 Sustainable Architecture Award - Lady Elliot Island.

Jason will present his state of the art, bushfire proof, insulating, fully integrated tile which also provides hot water and energy all in one roof tile.

Guest Speakers: Peter Gardiner from Peddle Thorp and Jason Perkins from Tractile
Jason Caruana brings his passion for sustainable design and architecture combined with innovative engineering and technology to the forefront in his role as National Sales Manager for Tractile. Jason has a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering and many years’ experience growing companies with progressive products in the construction industry. He will keep you informed and entertained with his Cornish accent, anecdotal humour and down-to-earth approach to Designing Solar Roofs.
Peter has had a varied architectural career, having designed high rise commercial, residential, public and educational buildings, retirement living and broad scale overseas urban design/ renewal projects. One of his most interesting projects was perhaps the smallest, an off-grid hybrid power station on Lady Elliot Island, 85km off-shore, started with no money and with great risk.  Peter will share his experience on this fascinating and extremely rewarding project, and give some insight into the process of decision-making that lead to a successful project. He will also discuss how he used this project to lower Peddle Thorp's carbon footprint by 33% ongoing!
