INSIGHTS INTO THE ART OF TV COMEDY WRITING
A One Day Course
WORLD PREMIERE! Not to be missed!
Fancy yourself a comedy writer but don't know where to start?
Do you want to learn the process of how to create the next hit TV comedy?
Want to learn from the best in the business?
This is a workshop for people who hate writing or think they hate writing. It's how to start thinking about a story, how to research for it, how to assemble some sort of loose structure that will allow you to write a first draft, how to start writing it and how to rewrite it.
It's every stage of the process, including those beyond the actual writing, all the way to the final sound dub.
An audience gives you one or two chances to screw up. If you get sloppy a third time, they'll look elsewhere for their entertainment. This is about leaving as little to chance as possible, about becoming an obsessive about your work and doing everything in your power to make it great.
Born in the Republic of Ireland, Graham Linehan started writing comedy in the early 1990's after time spent as a music and film critic. He co-created and co-wrote the hugely popular Irish sitcom Father Ted - still on constant rotation on TV’s worldwide today - and from there went on to write and direct equally successful shows including Big Train, Black Books, The IT Crowd, Count Arthur Strong and The Walshes. Linehan also wrote the successful stage adaptation of The Ladykillers and is currently working on a highly-anticipated musical.
"Creativity is messy and demanding and confusing. Writing is fun and easy and impossible and awful. Figuring it all out is something I've been trying to do for the last twenty five years and I'm hoping that I've gained enough insights into my own process that I won't actually mess yours up too much. So come and join me!" Graham Linehan
