TARRAWARRA MUSEUM OF ART
313 Healesville-Yarra Glen Rd
Healesville, Victoria 3777
Wednesday 4 July 2018
Session 1: 11.30am-1pm
Session 2: 2-3.30pm
In this hands-on workshop led by local artist Clare James, children will have the chance to engineer their own living sculpture - from moss, plants, lichen-covered twigs, twine, rope, wire and thread – that will continue to grow at home! Children will also explore how natural materials and animal fibres such as feathers, horse hair and sheep's wool can be used to make paintbrushes which create an array of unique textures and marks.
Children will first enjoy a tour of Edwin Tanner: Mathematical Expressionist to be inspired by Tanner’s experiments with constructed forms in his large-scale works. His wide-ranging talents saw him excel as an artist, professional engineer, aircraft pilot, champion cyclist, marksman, poet and philosopher.
Suitable for primary school-aged children with all materials provided. We recommend participants wear warm, waterproof clothing, an old shirt or art smock and covered shoes or gumboots as the workshop will take place outdoors, weather dependent.
$25 per child
$20 for children of Museum Members and concession card holders
