You may bring a water bottle. Unlike yoga, no equipment or mats etc are needed.
Is it difficult to learn?
Qigong is a gentle and simple practice known as a ‘moving meditation’. However, the movements are not complicated, allowing you to focus on the breath and centre your mind and body. Due to its gentle nature, Qigong can be adapted and practiced by people of all ages and abilities. It will help tone your body as you flow through the different movements, without being strenuous. It can even be done sitting down!
How much will I have to practice it?
You can practice Qigong as much or as little as you want. You can do 5 minutes a day. You can do 30 minutes twice a week. Do what you can – everything will help. A lot of people report that practicing even 5mins a day greatly improves their energy, reduces their stress, and improves their general overall quality of life; however, if you have a serious physical condition or illness and you want to see significant improvement, practicing 1 to 2 hours a day for 2 to 3 months will be needed.
Is Qigong like Yoga or Tai Chi?
Qigong has some similarities to Chinese yoga, and the movements of Qigong are similar to tai chi. However, Tai chi is based on a martial art and can be more complicated in its movements. QiGong on the other hand, is simple in its movements and focuses primarily on the energy in the body; physical, emotional and spiritual. Each movement is easily practiced by anyone, meaning the profound results are available to all.
