Swopera: Voices for Marriage Equality

A recital fundraiser with a twist. Sopranos and tenors, altos and baritones swap arias to raise money and awareness for marriage equality rights in Australia. Popular arias by Mozart, Puccini, Bizet, Bernstein and others will be reinterpreted and performed as they never have been before. By swapping gender roles the pieces uncover hidden meanings, some hilarious, some heart-breaking.

All proceeds will go to Australian Marriage Equality.

Sydney-based composer Paul Smith will premiere a new work composed for the event written for soprano, clarinet and piano.
