Eltham Mudbrick Tour 2018

Event Date: Sunday 21 October 2018,

Event Time: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Start/Finish Point: Montsalvat, 7 Hillcrest Ave, Eltham Vic 3095

Join us on a tour of five beautiful and individual Mudbrick houses in the Eltham area. Nillumbik's Mudbrick houses, always architecturally creative, are part of an alternative housing movement ahead of its time built with environmentally sustainable and recycled materials in natural harmony with our bush landscape.

The Tour maintains a 50+ year tradition pioneered by architect and builder Alistair Knox and is run by Eltham High School community volunteers to help support its renowned music program, with major sponsor Nillumbik Shire Council.

This year’s Tour features houses built, extended, and renovated between 1973 and 2018 by professional Mudbrick house builders Alistair Knox and Mark Sinclair, and owner builders including artists, a doctor and a local postman.

A free regular shuttle bus service will operate in a continuous loop to all of the houses. You take your own time in each property and then catch another shuttle bus to the next property. Some easy walking is required. You should allow about 3 hours to visit all five houses, including taking time to buy some home-made light savory or sweet refreshments at the final house.

Important Information: Some areas of the houses are accessed by steps or stairs and may not be accessible by mobility-impaired people.

COST: Adults $25, Seniors/Students/Health care card $20, Children under 16 free. Photo ID is required on the day.

Tickets are sold in a range of starting times. Please join the Tour within the selected hour*. Between 10 am and noon you are invited to watch Eltham High School ensemble musicians perform in Montsalvat’s Barn Gallery.

The last two Tours have sold out, so please purchase your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

* Patrons choosing the 1 pm starting time should start no later than 1.30 pm to comfortably visit all the houses.
