The Cladding Legacy & the Changing Insurance Market

hero

Do you know how to tackle the practical challenges posed by flammable cladding in past and future projects? Do you know enough about present conditions and future developments in the insurance industry? Join us on 17 October for the ACA Insight Webinar to learn more.

The insurance market is deteriorating globally, and it’s important to keep up to date with the changing nature of the industry. Insurance experts Laurence Gottleib from Planned Cover and Natasha Stojanovich from Lander & Rogers will explore the latest developments on a wide range of topics, including the following:

  • The current state of the insurance market, including the impact on premiums and prevalence of cladding exclusions
  • How to get the best result at insurance renewal
  • How an architect’s past design is judged (legally)
  • Available defences e.g. 'acceptable professional practice' / 'peer professional opinion'
  • Practical tips – what should architects be doing in the current environment?
  • The cladding legacy and problems with remedial design
  • Challenges on the horizon

Natasha Stojanovich is Special Counsel at Lander & Rogers, an experienced litigator, with a particular focus on insurance and building disputes. She has considerable experience handling complex multi-party disputes, and regularly acts for architects, engineers and building certifiers. Natasha is currently acting in several active litigated claims involving flammable cladding in both the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Supreme Court of Victoria. She is also assisting a variety of private clients in navigating the challenges posed by flammable cladding, such as mitigating liability risk and insurance-related issues.

Laurence Gottlieb is a lawyer by profession and also worked in corporate finance for different banks in South Africa before moving to Australia in 2002.  Since then he has worked at different insurance brokerages and has had 15 years’ experience in professional risks, specialising in professional indemnity insurances.  For the last ten years Laurence has been the Victoria State Manager of Planned Cover providing insurance placement and advice, risk management and claims management services, primarily to construction professionals. (Please note that Laurence is replacing his colleague Simon Gray, State Manager NSW/ACT, Planned Cover.)
