Improving Healthcare for Vulnerable Children: Loddon
The Loddon Area Forum provides a unique opportunity for CEOs, quality managers and senior staff to engage with peers and learn about recent development in good practice in protecting vulnerable children and families.
The Department of Health and Human Services will present the case for the Healthcare that counts framework (HCTC) and the system that enables health services to identify actions that will guide the detection and responses to protect children from harm.
Health services are in the unique position to see the indicators of family violence and children at risk of abuse and neglect. The role of our health system is crucial in responding to vulnerability because it can provide earlier and more connected care. This type of care is critical if we are to protect and promote children’s health, safety and wellbeing.
The framework enables health services to meet the Child Safety Standards and complements existing standards, accreditation performance and monitoring processes used by health services.
Good practice case studies will be discussed at the Forum along with the regulated Child Information Sharing Scheme, the need for collaboration, and reporting of children at risk.
