Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) - 2 Day Course


Visual Thinking Strategies is an inquiry based teaching methodology that encourages critical and creative thinking through looking at art. You will engage deeply with artworks, whilst building visual literacy, observation, empathy, diplomacy and communication skills.

This workshop is suitable for teachers of all subjects and enhances classroom teaching strategies and curriculum for those seeking a deeper engagement with the Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) method.

VTS has been proven to strengthen students’ oral communications, literacy and creative and analytical skills among students of all ages.

Teachers will gain the confidence to commence teaching VTS competently in their classrooms and communities.

Workshop includes lunch and refreshments.
Suitable for educators of all subjects and does not require specialist art knowledge or skills.

Presenter: Christine Healey

Christine is an experienced Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) trainer, coach and facilitator. Christine initially trained in VTS in New York, and followed up with two fellowships at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Christine is currently Curator of Education and Community Learning at the Incinerator Gallery, Moonee Ponds. Previously she was Education Manager at Heide Museum of Modern Art and the Shrine of Remembrance. Christine’s formal qualifications include an M.A. (Arts Management) RMIT University and a B.F.A. (Photography) from the Victorian College of the Arts. She is a VIT registered teacher and current PhD candidate at RMIT University.
