hero
Four remaining concerts in the Galston Uniting Church presenting outstanding international and Australian performers - fine music and fun music!
"Superb!" "Outstanding performances" "Also loved the culture & afternoon tea":  24 March:  Russian Revelations - Evgeny Sorkin,  violin & Vladimir Gorbach, guitar, of Russian origins, proteges of the great Yehudi Menuhin, very much international performers and both lecturers of the Sydney Conservatorium, with a guest pianist, perform Baroque music by Bach & Handel;  Chausson's Poeme from Romantic France;  Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich & other Russians;  plus Spanish selections & tangos from Argentina by Piazzolla - solos, duos and trios including cameos from their star students.
26 May:  A World of Music - While our end-of-year Gala will 'act locally' this program 'thinks globally' anticipating World Music Day in June by celebrating a multi-cultural mix:  Classical composers visiting exotic ports;  crossover styles to other cultures;  leading world-travelling professionals & Young Performers in a sound palette of 'colours' from accordian, harp, organ & more, plus Tonya Lemoh, one of our favourite globe-trotting pianists.
28 July:  ARCH Trio - Mezzo-soprano Christina Wilson, her pianist husband Alan Hicks & violist Robert Harris, who performed in our 2017 Galston Gala, return with a G-for-Galston theme program of Germanic gems by Franz Schubert & Johannes Brahms, plus America's George Gershwin (Porgy & Bess), Australia's Percy Grainger, Spain's Enrique Granados & Norway's Edvard Grieg (Peer Gynt) - plus a Young Performer vocal protege.
29 September:  Paridoro Plus Piano - This European-origin (Hungary, Netherlands & Poland) now Sydney-Brisbane quintet of clarinets, strings & piano have triumphed on stages in well over thirty countries.   For Galston they offer a Mix-of-Ms program:  trios with clarinets by Mendelssohn and Mikhail (as in Glinka), trios with viola by Mozart and Max (as in Bruch) plus Music from the Movies & a world premiere dance mini-suite (a Maroota Minuet?).
17 November:  The Galston Young Performers Gala - Our annual series-ending Gala 'acts locally' with an awards concert for Young Performers of global potential - prizewinners from Sydney Eisteddfod & other competitions, Rising Stars from the Sydney Conservatorium & Hills/Hornsby district schools.  The Galston Concerts encouraging young talent - piano, organ, strings, mixed ensembles & more - to close our 2019 series is a prelude to 2020!
