Australia’s first Composition Conference will be held at the New England Conservatorium of Music in Armidale from the 9th to 11th October 2019.
Six internationally-published presenters will cover a wide range of composition topics, designed to help music teachers, music specialists, composers, song-writers and tertiary students to improve their understanding of both traditional and contemporary compositional techniques.
From Canada, world-renowned Christopher Norton, whose “Microjazz” instrumental program is the best-selling series in Boosey & Hawkes history, along with “Latin Preludes” and “Rock Preludes”
Bruce Rowland, award-winning Australian film composer, with credits includingThe Man From Snowy River, Phar Lap and the 2000 Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony
Amy Bastow, composer of film and TV (including James Cameron’s “Deepsea Challenge”, Australian TV’s “True Stories with Hamish & Andy” and “Winners & Losers”)
Andy Firth, one of the world’s most virtuosic clarinet and saxophone players, is also one of this country’s most prolific composers of wind instrumental music and big band arrangements
Dr Ralph Hultgren has been commissioned by leading Symphonic Wind Bands worldwide to compose original works for Concert Band, withMasada, The Hornet’s Nest and Jessie’s Well among his most revered pieces
Sarah Hopkins has had both choral and string works published and sold all around the world, receiving international acclaim for her Past Life Melodies and Honour the Earth
