Who is it for?

This Retreat is designed for adults wanting to heal the unresolved emotional and /or spiritual wounds of difficult or traumatic events that have occurred in their lives.

The retreats aim to help people with:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • Addictions
  • Relationship issues, etc

The retreat will focus on healing childhood wounds such as attachment difficulties, family dysfunction, abuse, bullying and trauma which have been identified as the root causes of many mental health issues.

How the retreat works:

Trauma memories and emotions can remain ‘stuck’ in the right hemisphere of the brain and require right brain processes to heal them. Creative Heart Healing retreats utilise creative, ‘right-brained’ processes such as painting, drawing, writing and clay work to:

  • Develop and strengthen a sense of emotional safety and healing
  • Connect to our inner wounded child
  • Care for our emotions
  • Empower ourselves to re-imagine a new ending to the difficult stories of the past

The retreat process is gentle and utilises strategies from a range of evidence-based therapies such as Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Somatic Therapy and Creative Art and Writing Therapies.

Spiritual Resources:

The retreat does not have a particular religious base but participants are encouraged to utilise spiritual resources that they feel comfortable with. Spiritual activities such as meditation, connecting to nature, mindfulness, Tai Chi, labyrinth walks, mantras, prayer, music and reflection/ contemplation can be helpful supports on the healing journey.

Group Format:

Workshop content is presented in a group format with a maximum number of 12 participants completing therapeutic activities on an individual basis. There are opportunities to share experiences with the other group members if you wish but there is no pressure or expectation to do so.

Tools to take with you:

The healing process is empowering and comes from the stance that participants are the experts in their own lives. Participants can learn healing processes during the retreat that can be applied to their own lives and used on an on-going basis, with support as needed, after the retreat has finished.

Healing unresolved trauma is an important step towards inner peace for ourselves, our families, our communities and the world.
