Event Details

This two hour seminar will be chaired by Andrew Lanarus, Director at Human Habitats and will be presented in two parts:

Part 1: Town Planning Basics by Genevieve Blunden of Human Habitats will give an overview of the key elements of planning policy that are relevant to design for planning applications and look at recent changes to policy that may be of interest to architects and property developers.

Part 2: Sustainability in the Planning Process by Samuel Thomson and Steve Clifford of EcoResults will cover Environmentally Sustainable Design and stormwater as well as daylight access.



Andrew Lanarus: Director - Human Habitats

Andrew Lanarus has worked in private practice for over 13 years in Melbourne, Sydney and London. Andrew has influenced significant projects in Melbourne obtaining planning approvals for some of the largest developments of his generation right through to small scale residential projects. During this time, his clients have covered all sectors of the property industry, from Australia’s largest superannuation funds to boutique developers. 
Andrew is a trusted advisor to all of his private sector clients. He is sought out for his expertise in statutory and strategic planning, and regularly handles planning approvals of a complex nature.

Genevieve Blunden: Associate - Human Habitats

Genevieve Blunden is a planning consultant with considerable experience leading strategic and statutory planning processes for a diverse range of project types including residential, retail, commercial, hospitality, heritage, industrial and mixed use. Genevieve has an excellent understanding of the Victorian Planning Provisions, and proven ability to contribute to efficient design processes and successfully negotiate outcomes with a range of authorities.

Samuel Thomson: Director - EcoResults

Samuel Thomson has extensive teaching, mentoring and team building experience both in Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Initially from a Civil/Structural Engineering background, he later found himself in Architectural Building Design. He holds Diplomas in both Engineering (Civil) and Building Design (Architectural) as well as a Certificate IV in National House Energy Rating Scheme Assessment. Whilst teaching the Advanced Diploma of Building Design at TAFE for 10 years, including Planning Schemes and Building Codes, Samuel developed an interest in ESD, before co-founding his own private practice, where he heads up the ESD Consulting team.

Steve Clifford: Director - EcoResults

Steve Clifford started his career in construction, with a keen interest in sustainability. He has developed several sustainable products. Steve pursued his interest further, becoming a Residential Sustainability Assessor, and has inspected and produced reports on over 200 homes. Since co-founding EcoResults, Steve has had varied roles within the Practice, and currently heads up EcoResults’ Daylight, Energy and Waste Management Consulting teams.



This seminar provides one formal CPD point per hour on completion of set assessment (two points are available).
