HMA NSW Tour to Mt Tomah and Bilpin

Join us on a wonderful day trip to the cool Blue Mountains on Saturday 23 February.
  • 9:30am Arrive the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mt Tomah
  • 10:00am Welcome and talk by Greg Bourke Curator Manager of the BMBG Mt Tomah.

Highlights will be the dahlia display, carnivorous plants (Greg’s specialty) and a behind-the-scenes nursery tour with details of the wollemi pine and waratah breeding programs.

We’ll also have a presentation from Senior Horticulturist BMBG and bulb enthusiast Mat Murray who has recently been on an expedition to see the bulbs of Turkey’s Taurus Mountains. Mat will talk about his 12 favourite bulbs.

After a short lunch break we will travel to Woodgreen, 25 Powells Road Bilpin, which is just a few minutes away. This is the garden of Peta and Peter Trahar. Peta, one of the founders of the Collectors’ Plant Fair, is a renowned and celebrated gardener and Woodgreenis full of unusual plants.

  • 1:30pm Arrive at Woodgreen
  • 2:00pm Introductory talk by Peta and tour of the garden.
