Fabric Design: Rust and Plant Dyeing

Stand out against Melbourne’s monochrome winter fashion trend with a rust and plant dyed scarf! Using natural dye fabrics – which are fashionable, ethical and sustainable – textile artist and tutor Jessica Gannaway will teach you the traditional art of natural dyeing. Learn simple and experimental techniques such as: folding shibori patterns into silk, pegging with rusty clips and using iron-infused botanicals to create leaf patterns on fabrics. After the class, you will come away with an understanding of natural dyeing as well as your very own unique scarf and fabrics.

All materials provided.
