A new Australian chamber opera about the famous historical figure William Buckley, his escape from the 1803 Settlement near Sorrento and the 32 years he lived with the Aboriginal Wathaurong people across Port Phillip. With music by Antony Ransome, and text by Richard Cotter, both locals, the opera is directed by upcoming young Adelaide Festival regular David Lampard. Established Melbourne baritone Michael Lampard and exciting Indigenous soprano Shauntai Batzke sing the leading roles.
Premiere Friday 26th April 8pm; Matinee Saturday 27th April 2pm.
