This hands-on STEM Skills workshop on for Scouts, Venturers, Rovers & Leaders will help you design and develop STEM Activities. You will be allocated a real project, with a real budget, to design and deliver a STEM & Innovation activity that will be used as part of SciScouts: Health & Fitness. This is Youth leading, Adults supporting. Proudly supported by a Heart Foundation Active Australia Innovation Challenge grant.

The morning session will be about developing your project management and facilitation skills, we’ll then spend the afternoon designing your project. There will be opportunities to run your activities at: Joey Scout Imagineering Challenge - Sunday 26 May, Science in ACTion - Saturday 11 August and/or Get Out, Be a Healthy Scout - Sunday 8 September.

Date: 9am-4pm, Sunday 14 April 2019

Cost: $5 (plus 50c booking fee), includes morning tea.

Eligibility: Any interested Scout (more suited to at least Blue/Milestone 2 level), Venturer, Rover or Leader, especially youth members who are interested in supporting SciScouts activities!  Please note: If oversubscribed by the closing date priority will be given to youth members, and we will run a special Leader workshop on another date.

Award scheme linkages – please remember to clear this via your Troop or Unit Council.

Scouts: Old: An approved activity under the Individual or Team Sport proficiency badges, or a Leadership Project. New– STEM & Innovation, Personal Growth or Adventure & Sport Special Interest Areas (SIAs)

Venturers: Old: An approved project under Pursuits (VA), Fitness (VA) or Service (VA or QS); New – STEM & Innovation, Personal Growth or Adventure & Sport SIAs.

Rovers: Old: Community Development or Service; New: STEM & Innovation, Personal Growth or Adventure & Sport SIAs.

What to bring: Comfortable clothes, enclosed shoes, scout scarf, hat, lunch (no nuts), water bottle, raincoat/jumper if weather requires.

Refund policy: As materials and programming based on final numbers need to be done in the lead-up to the workshop, we are unable to provide refunds following the close of bookings on Sunday 7 April (unless in exceptional circumstances).
