Succeeding With Adults With Autism Spectrum Disorder

Day 1  Thursday 8th August - For Families Friends and Colleagues - If you have a family member, friend or colleague who has Asperger's Syndrome this one-day workshop will provide valuable information about who these people are and how best to relate to them.
The challenges associated with achieving a diagnosis of ASD  Level 1 (normally known as Asperger's Syndrome) from an individual and family perspective.
Issues associated with achieving a diagnosis in the adult years and the value of having a diagnosis.
Stategies for guidance and support in daily living skills, emotion management, employment and relationships within the family.
ASD and the criminal justice system.
Ageing and autism.
Day 2  Friday 9th August - For Human Service Personnel - If you are a psychologist, counsellor, social worker or work in any of the human service professions this one-day workshop will offer you resources and insight into working with people who have Asperger's Syndrome.  
The defining characteristics of ASD Level 1 ( formerly known as Asperger's Syndrome)  in adults and how the pattern of abilities and adaptations can be different for women.
Recommended screening instruments, diagnostic tools and additional activities to include in a diagnostic assessment.
Challenges for adults with ASD Level 1 in conversation, daily living and emotion management skills.
Constructive application of of talents and abilities.
Potential issues regarding addiction and criminal activity.
Strategies to achieve and maintain employment and relationships.
