OCC Wellbeing Workshop

Guest Speaker: Ruth Knight - Advanced Care Planning

90% of Australians say that it is important to discuss their end of life care wishes or their wishes in the event of a life limiting illness,
and yet, less than 30% of people have actually had that conversation.

Ruth Knight has 25 years experience working in the health and social service sector. Holding a Masters of Education (Educational Leadership and Management) and a critical care nursing qualification, Ruth sees firsthand the benefits of advanced care planning and believes conversations should occur before people are faced with the stress of an acute hospital admission. She is passionate about increasing awareness of advanced care planning, encouraging conversations about future wishes and enhancing the capacity of local communities to support each other as they face life limiting illnesses, death or bereavement.
