The Berlin-based Trio Marvin was founded in 2016 in Leipzig. Only a few months later, it was awarded first prize at the ‘Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition 2017’ in Berlin. In September 2017, Trio Marvin won second prize and two special prizes at the Concorso Internazionale ‘Premio Trio di Trieste’ in Italy. This success formed a solid foundation for the young trio who have already cultivated an inimitable fusion in their short time together.
Established in 1991 and staged every four years, the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition is one of the most prestigious events of its kind. The competition is open to string quartets and piano trios of all nationalities whose members are under the age of 35. In 2018, for the first time, it was produced by Musica Viva Australia, the world’s largest presenter of chamber music, in partnership with Melbourne Recital Centre and the Australian National Academy of Music. The Grand Prize included an Australian performance tour in November 2019 arranged by Musica Viva Australia.
