Please join us to celebrate Mother's Day at the annual Prefects Mother and Son Breakfast - grandmothers, aunties, friends and mentors are all welcome to attend. Ticket sales will go towards supporting the Brave Foundation and there will also be a raffle held on the day for the Year 12 Hutchins charity, The Smith Family.
WHEN: Wednesday 15 May
WHERE: Burbury House Dining Room (Hutchins Boarding House)
TIME: 7.00am to 8.30am (please note a strict start time of 7.00am)
TICKETS: $25 per person including a full hot breakfast, tea, coffee and juices. Please Note: you must purchase a ticket for your son if he is attending.
Please Note: Year 6 students will be away on the Canberra trip this week.
GUEST SPEAKER: Bernadette Black - CEO Brave Foundation and Tasmanian Australian of the Year 2019
After experiencing the stigma associated with teenage pregnancy, Bernie wrote the book Brave Little Bear to help young teens and founded the Brave Foundation in 2009 which now supports and represents 8,300 expextant and parenting teens each year. At the age of 16, Bernie overcame adversity to finish her education; becoming a qualilfied nurse, political advocate and holds many governance positions. She has won many awards including: 2008 finalist Australian of the Year, 2009 Barnardos Australian Mother of the Year, 2016 Telstra Tasmanian Business Woman of the Year and 2019 Tasmanian Australian of the Year.
