ABSTUDY Workshop - Rockhampton/Yeppoon
These workshops are a must attend event for all boarding schools and residences receiving ABSTUDY payments to support their Indigenous boarding students. They will run in two parts – a more general morning session and a practical workshop in the afternoon. Half day and a full day registrations are available. There is no charge for organisations with over 75% Indigenous boarders or more than 90 minutes travel from a workshop venue.
The morning session will contextualise the Indigenous student boarding sector, provide an ABSTUDY overview and focus on major ABSTUDY 2018 Budget measures, including Safe Travel Plans. All principals and deputies with leadership responsibility for Indigenous boarding, Heads of Boarding, as well as bursars, finance officers and other administrative staff with ABSTUDY responsibilities should attend the morning session.
The afternoon session is targeted at bursars, finance officers and other administrative staff with direct ABSTUDY administrative responsibilities. This session will increase understanding of the ABSTUDY Manual, show how the best operators are managing ABSTUDY, provide ‘Tips & Tricks’ and will be based on a workbook.
Lunch will be provided. A great time to network.
By improving your internal systems for managing ABSTUDY boarding schools and residences will be better able to ensure that funding is effectively utilised and improve the outcomes of boarding students from Indigenous families.
Supported by the Department of Social Security.
