Pop Up Speakeasy Bar.
Exclusive event. Bookings essential.
The Old Melbourne Gaol, as part of its public programs during the Underbelly: Squizzy Exhibition, will be hosting an exclusive “Pop up” Speakeasy on Thursday 18th July 2013 from 6.30pm – 9.30pm.
A Speakeasy, also called a blind pig or blind tiger, was an establishment that would have illegally sold alcoholic beverages during the period in the United States that was known as Prohibition. During this time it was illegal to sell, manufacture or transport alcoholic beverages.
The Squizzy “Pop up” Speakeasy bar will take guests on a journey back to the 20’s where they will sample prohibition style cocktails made by the creative team behind Trink Tank and Bar Americano. Guests will have the opportunity to uncover the story of one of Melbourne’s first gangsters through an after dark viewing of the exhibition and sampling the excessive lifestyle that Squizzy and his associates were accustom to through song, dance and all the trappings of a decadent 20’s lifestyle.
Ticket includes one prohibition style cocktail. Additional beverages and food will be available at the venue for purchase on the night.
The speakeasy is a strictly 18+ event.
