Aboriginal Safe Gambling Information Workshop

The workshop will cover what gambling can be linked to, such as:

* Employment and education, mental, spiritual and physical health, relationship problems, money problems, legal problems and crime

* Barriers - why Aboriginal people do not seek help

* Advice on effective service delivery to Aboriginal people

Aboriginal community members, people working in Aboriginal organisations and Gambler’s Help services. 

Who is delivering the training? 

Ashley Gordon is an Aboriginal Australian from the western-NSW community of Brewarrina, a descendent of the Gamilaroi (mother) and Ngemba (father).

After a successful career in rugby league with the Newcastle Knights, Ashley became involved in a variety of community issues however gambling is his passion.

He was a gambling counsellor for seven years’ and has worked as a gambling researcher with the Centre for Gambling Education and Research at Southern Cross University at Lismore. He currently manages the NSW Aboriginal Safe Gambling Services.
