- AUSTA WA, UWA and Zenith Music present Baroque and folk violist, Katie Yap, in two workshops for VIOLISTS!
- Thursday 27 June 2019, 4:30-7pm @ Zenith Music, Claremont: All styles masterclass, Baroque viola demo and folk song learning for violists from (approx) AMEB Grades 3 and higher. You may bring any piece (or excerpt) up to 5 mins to perform for our supportive viola community and receive a mini lesson! Unaccompanied performances welcome and there will be a piano available if you chose to perform with your own accompanist. Bring your violas! There are participation activities for all players in addition to the masterclass, individual performances! After all the performances, Katie will give a short promotional demonstration of Baroque viola practices and then lead all the attendees in learning a folk song using the traditional method of teaching (and learning) by ear.
Friday 28 June 2019, 6:30pm @ UWA: All styles masterclass, Baroque viola demonstration & discussion, and viola choir reading session for AMEB Grades 7 and above. This second evening brings a masterclass for more advanced viola players (AMEB Grades 7 and above) in a similar supportive environment. Unaccompanied pieces or excerpts from larger works welcome; there will be a piano available if you chose to perform with your own accompanist. Bring your violas! There are participation activities for all players in addition to the masterclass, individual performances! Following all the performances, Katie will host a demonstration and in depth discussion of Baroque viola performance and we will end the evening with a viola choir reading session. Performance times for the masterclass will be governed by the number of participants; please list the piece title, composer and duration when registering as a participant.
