TC and FC Teamwork: Referral and Collaboration - Level 2

This session for both TCs and FCs will establish a clear understanding of the different roles of each, then look at ways the two can or should collaborate in producing the best possible outcomes for clients.

The session will develop shared understandings of what best practice collaboration looks like, including teamwork processes, information sharing and privacy issues, and achieving good client outcomes.
Many clients, particularly those affected by gambling harm, benefit from working simultaneously with a therapeutic counsellor and a financial counsellor. However, there are not, as yet, well developed models of interdisciplinary approaches to clients experiencing gambling harm, and there is a lot to learn about how to develop effective cooperation between ‘FCs and TCs’.
This is a cross-sector workshop, both financial counsellors and therapeutic counsellors are encouraged to participate. On successful completion of this session participants will:

·    Have a clear understanding of each other’s roles, those of a FC and a TC
·    Understand the benefits for clients when working collaboratively
·    Gain new networks for referral
·    Know how to foster and promote a collaborative relationship with FC/TC
·    Be aware of confidentiality and privacy obligations and what is and isn’t appropriate to share, and when to share it.
·    Be able to establish more effective collaborative relationship with other professionals
The session will facilitate active sharing of ideas and group discussions. To satisfy your professional obligations - and to be awarded points for attendance - you are required to participate in the entire session.  We thank you for your commitment to our Code of Ethics.
