Sacred Rhythms - Music of Africa and the Andes
Two of the 20th century’s great folk masses, Misa Criolla and Missa Luba will be performed by the Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus with tenor soloists Nicholas Lock and Andrew Turner. Both masses are distinguished by their unique harmonic sound and percussive folk rhythms. Written during times of social and political uncertainty, both pieces call on the musical traditions at their countries’ cultural hearts. A selection of other traditional songs from the African continent will also be presented.
