LINKS is an extension program designed for High Potential Curious Learners in Grades 5 and 6.

The aim of the program is to offer a range of activities which provide enrichment from the normal school program. It allows students to work in groups with students who share similar interests and achievements.

The program has been designed by staff at East Doncaster Secondary College.

The 2019 program is focused on the following learning areas: Arts,  Health, Sport and Recreation, English, Mathematics, Science, Critical thinking and Leadership.

The program will run for five weeks, and provide selected students with the opportunity to:

· develop their talents in a specialist area

· work with students from other schools with similar talents

High Potential Curious Learners

High Potential Curious Learners are those who give evidence of high performance capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership or specific academic fields, and who require special programs or activities in order to fully develop such capabilities.

Students may be born with certain gifts, but the learning environment is important in the development of these. The opportunities provided in the environment allow some children to develop their abilities to the point of giftedness, whereas the lack of such opportunities inhibits others in their development.
