Imaginarium

The Imaginarium is an initiative unique to Perth College, catering specifically for gifted girls of very high ability. Through a strengths-based lens, minds expand and soar. Innovation, curiosity and creativity are encouraged whilst social and emotional capabilities are supported and enhanced. Courses develop participants through a holistic approach, developing gifted girls’ intellectual, social, emotional and vocational domains and are open to girls who attend any school in Western Australia.

Wondering and wandering through curious minds … 

Year 1-9 

 

Do you wonder what lives in the deep, dark depths of the oceans? Do you wonder about unique places and cultures who have never been visited by tourists? Do you wonder how our biological system is similar to animals or about galaxies far and wide? Do you wonder about the evolution of rare animal species? Participants will draw on their Character Strengths of Curiosity, Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence, and Open-Mindedness to investigate the BIG questions they are intrigued in. Their exploration will be through a Project-Based and Problem-Based Learning lens, presenting their findings any way they wish - from interactive books to coding, three-dimensional models to insightful art pieces.

Mythology: Creatures, Muses and Goddesses 

Years 1- 6 

 

Do you wonder about mythological creatures, their stories and where they originated from? Or perhaps the nine muses of Greek Mythology? Are you curious about the Goddesses of differing cultures and countries? Participants will draw on their Character Strengths of Curiosity, Open-Mindedness and Creativity to investigate the mythologies they are curious about. They will imagine, daydream and recreate their story through creative applications that utilise their own strengths or interests, embracing their mythology’s originality and significance through different avenues.

 

Wednesday afternoons 3.30 - 5.30 pm - 7 weeks
