Entertaining Jane Austen

hero
Jane Austen began writing when she was still a girl – short skits and parodies, which her family found very entertaining. One of the reasons she has remained popular is that her mature novels too are, as she hoped, ‘entertaining’ . John Wiltshire will explore some aspects of entertainment in Jane Austen’s writing, including her wisdom as well as her wit.

Emeritus Professor John Wiltshire has published five books about Jane Austen and is recognised as a world authority on her work.
