Building Amazing Soils Workshop: Saturday 20 July 2019

This intensive workshop delves into all things soil! There is more and more evidence pointing to healthy living soils being at the heart of quickly reducing the climate emergency we now face and for us to be resilient to the climate change impacts we already face. In the workshop we will discuss the following topics, using living examples and demonstrations, many photos and illustrations to clearly explain how to build and maintain healthy, living and productive soils.

A delicious lunch, snack and drinks are included.


Workshop topics:

  • Overview: Healthy living soils are a key base for climate resilience, drought proofing and for solving our climate emergency. And it helps for growing really good food too!
  • Soil improvement techniques - compost, liquid compost, worm farms, micro-organism activators, green manure crops, mulch
  • Soil building techniques for small-scale - raised beds, swales, animal integration, paths
  • Soil building techniques for large-scale - inoculation, animal integration, water/soil catchment, vegetation, tipping the scales in nature’s favour, carbon sequestration
  • Introduction to Retrosuburbia and 52 Climate Action resources
  • Beyond your ‘paddock’: accessing climate-positive food with high nutrient integrity for your plate
  • Carbon sequestration - what it is and how you can do it
