St Kilda Film Festival - Victorian Tour
“We’re incredibly pleased to be taking some of this year’s best Australian short films on the road for the wider Victorian community to experience. These films are excellent, and viewing them shouldn’t be a metro-only privilege,” Cr Gross said.
Australia’s oldest publicly-owned film festival, the St Kilda Film Festival, is once again hitting the road to entertain audiences around Victoria.
A selection of films screened at the 36th St Kilda Film Festival which concluded on 30 June will be showcased during the three-month tour, providing film buffs from around the state the opportunity to view some of Australia’s celebrated filmmaking talent.
The Victorian Tour will be visiting regional destinations including Fish Creek, Mount Beauty, Camperdown, Swanpool and Queenscliff, plus metropolitan cinemas Sun Theatre (Yarraville) and Cinema Nova (Carlton).
Highlights from Australia’s Top Short Film Competition will screen at each destination including 2019 award winners Judas Collar (Best Short Film/Best Director), Lost and Found (Craft Award/Best Original Score) and Shepherd (Best Achievement in Screenplay).
St Kilda Film Festival is an Academy Awards® qualifying event, with the winners of this year’s Best Short Film (Judas Collar) and Best Documentary (Manus) eligible for consideration in the OSCARS® short film and OSCARS® Documentary Shorts Award categories.
City of Port Phillip Mayor, Cr Dick Gross, is excited about the films reaching an even larger audience through the expansion of the Tour to include more metro and regional destinations.
