For students preparing for AMEB Preliminary to Grade 5 or equivalent

Session 2
4.00 - 5.30pm
For students preparing for AMEB Grade 6 to AMusA or equivalent

The Performance Day will be a valuable opportunity for students to perform on any instrument in front of an experienced presenter. Performers will receive a written critique sheet comprising feedback about their performance. While it is not a requirement to be enrolled in a practical examination, performers will also benefit from general advice about examination preparation. 

Please note that the Performance Day is not suitable for beginners who have not yet reached AMEB Preliminary grade or equivalent.

Performers

The cost for a student to perform is $30 per student. 
Performers may perform once, on 1 instrument only.
ALL PERFORMERS MUST BE BOOKED IN ONLINE.

Bookings close Sun 4 August.

Please note there is a total booking limit of 3 students per VMTA member for the Performance Day

Audience 

There is NO charge for audience members to attend. 
BOOKINGS ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR AUDIENCE MEMBERS.

Information for performers 

Performance Repertoire

Preliminary to Grade 3: up to two pieces may be performed
Grade 4 to AMusA: one piece or one movement from a larger work (e.g. sonata) may be performed

Accompanists

The venue is equipped with a beautiful Schimmel grand piano for use by pianists and accompanists. A music stand will be provided for other instrumentalists. If piano accompaniment is required, performers are asked to bring their own accompanist or contact the VMTA office if they require assistance in securing an accompanist. 

Making a Booking

When booking in performers, you will be asked to provide some information at the time of booking. Please have the following information available:

  • Name of performer
  • Instrument
  • Grade level (AMEB or equivalent)
  • Piece 1: FULL name of piece, composer, duration
  • Piece 2 (Preliminary to Grade 3 only): FULL name of piece, composer, duration
  • Name of performer’s teacher (must be a VMTA member)
  • Parent's name
  • Parent's email address
  • Parent's phone number
  • Indicate whether you are bringing an accompanist

Performers can change their program up to 7 days prior to the event if unsure at the time of booking.

A program will be emailed to performers a few days prior to the event.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the session you are attending in order to sign in. We kindly ask that performers arrive on time and stay for the duration of the concert in order to support other performers. 

Directions & Parking - St Peter's Anglican Church Box Hill

If heading west towards the city on Whitehorse Road, turn into the Whitehorse Service Road, immediately after Linsley Street. St Peter's Anglican Church is located between the Box Hill Library and Box Hill Town Hall. Follow the driveway to the back of the church. Reserved signs only apply Mon-Fri. Please do not park in car spaces near entrance to church as this is reserved for VMTA staff and volunteers. 

Parking is also available in Bank Street along the railway line (commuter restrictions only apply Mon-Fri); along the Whitehorse Service Road before Linsley Street (if heading west towards the city); and at the adjacent Town Hall. Please do not park in the Library car park (permit only). There is also a large Care Park in Watts Street (500 places) within walking distance of the church.
